    Trench Art (shell vase) question

    Hi guys,

Quick question. Does anyone know HOW soldiers carved these shells? With which tools?

    Many thanks for any help.
    Best regards,

More a case of 'beaten' not 'carved'.

Use of hammer and metal-working tools will achieve the result.

Google 'beaten brass' and you will see what I mean.

        Hi,

Here are some happy snaps of soldiers working on shells, and making rings.

        Cheers,

        Jamie.

Amazing what soldiers will do to pass the time between the moments of utter terror. Also the variety of things that can be made from left over shell casings etc...
