    Colonial Spangen

Thought you might get a real charge out of this item on ebay.de. We discussed the scarcity of Colonial era spange, it seems our German colleagues agree with us!

    Hi Rick,

nice one! I´m watching tiis item since the start of the auction. It is now 202 Euros.

Just my opinion: It looks original, it is RARE, it is nice and it is a RIBBON BAR! (20 mm size of the bar and 15 mm ribbon) It is the 4th one I´ve ever seen. But I will not jump on that. Only this single item cannot tell me a story like a 4 or 5 place bar. So I will leave it for our colleagues.

You see, I´m not greedy and buy every ribbon bar that is available!

    Best greetings

    Daniel

Good Lord! That's about what I paid for the entire Oldenburg "vdF"/Colonial "Venezuela" 6 MEDAL bar I've got posted in an earlier thread!!!!

Mein Gott! It finished at 303 Euros!!!

Again, not an original size Spange, a miniaturized Spange on a single ribbon bar!!!
Shall I slowly start to sell my ribbon bars? Maybe it is enough to build a house!

        Best regards

          speaking of spanges

I just received a box of old Infos from Dland. In one is an excellant article about the Seymour Expedition bar on the China medal. It also references the "beruhmte autor " R.J.Lundstrom.....does anyone have an example of China bars to post?
          Just curious.

              Hi Jeff,

I have only one China "Huolu" bar on a ribbon bar I posted before in other forums. Here is a closeup of the bar:

                  Hi John,

the Colonial medal was established in 1912 as award for different Colonial campaigns, where no special medal (like the China medal or the Southwestafrica medal) was awarded.

                  - Deutsch-Ostafrika 1888-1912
                  - Südwestafrika 1893-1904
                  - Kamerun 1884-1912
                  - Samoa 1880
                  - Venezuela 1902/1903
                  - Ponape 1910/1911
                  - Togo 1894-1903
                  - Deutsch-Neuguinea 1893-1914

In contrary tho the China Campaign 1900/1901 and Südwestafrika Campaign 1907 no medals in steel for merits at home in relation with the Campaign were established.

                  Best regards

                  Daniel

                      Unofficial bars

Has anyone ever seen an unofficial bar for either Scutarie or Alabnia?
                      Cheers,
                      JeMc
