Last week picked up a German WW1 Western Front Photo Album, there are over 90 pictures, quite small size 6cm x 4cm, all are military, mainly at the western front in the trenches, unfortunately none of the photos have been titled. The album motif has a artillery shell with the number No 42 and a oak leaf sprig across it. I wonder if this was the regiment number - Artillery Regiment No40 ? or perhaps something to do with shell size ? and the oak sprig ? has any member further information or suggestions on the symbolic ?. I'll post some more photos when I've watermarked them.
