    1914 Iron Cross Core

    Hi there

I won this 1914 EK2 core along with the other badge recently. I'm sure it is okay but would just like an expert to confirm my conclusion.

Also if anyone knows about the other badge I'd be very inerested to find out.

    Thanks in advance

    Erwin

    Hi Erwin,

interesting ek2 core you have. That is the core which is connected to the Zimmermann maker. I always was under the impression the "blued cored" Zimmermann crosses were made out of two halves, as they are lighter and have multiple combinations (there are two core obverses and reverses, making 4 possible combinations, I thought I saw all these).

This looks like a massive version, or are the two halves soldered together? Could you confirm and give the weight?

    Thanks.
    Michel

      Thanks for your reply Michel.

This is certainly a one piece stamping and not made up of two halves, of course magnetic and the electronic scales are flicking beween 10 & 11 grams.

      Cheers Erwin
