    Imperial Pilot Badge

Dear Gents, I have a good feeling on this pilot badge, but I am not the expert in these . Hopefully somebody can help in the question, if this is really a WW1 period Imperial Prussian flight badge made by Juncker ? Thanks in advance...

Yes, it's a pity that the pin is so badly repaired.

I wait for one without repair. Nice type 3 Junckers are rare, but nevertheless surface from time to time.

A very nice badge despite the repair.
If the price is right go for it.

In top condition with no defects, and the same markings, Juncker Berlin 800 halfmoon
                  I would say 1000-1200€.
Ofcouse there are cheaper versions, the unmarked and hollow specimen.
I think the example posted is one of the most desirable versions, with a lovely patina on top of that. Too bad about the hinge repair.

                  Regards

Remember when buying a badge/medal, if there's a repair even a minor one, if you ever try an sell it, it will be challenging & the vaue will be punished. There are exceptions of course, but not to this type of PB, at least IMO.
                      Good luck!

I am not disagreeing with the comments above, but in some ways this is a shame.

This badge (IMO) is 100% WWI wartime (later war period) and shows real field wear to the front....metal wear not just finish darkening. Impossible to know when and where the repair was done.....but most likely not by a trained Jeweler.....and this may point to a field workshop type of repair.

At any rate a very high % of the real wartime awarded badges that I have seen show repairs to the hinge, pin or catch....or even all three areas.

I just know that I would pay more for a badge that had all the signs of wartime field wear than I would a post war badge in un-worn condition as many of these Imperial pilots badges are.

It went for 960 euro, together with a black wound badge which is marked 800 and has a screwback.

Thats a good deal from my point of view. Nice worn badge and additional wound SB piece. I got my early prussian two piece flieger abzeichen in great condition for 1200e recently. So again seems ok.

Maybe the high bidder is a member overhere ?
