Love the beauty of the set!
Beautiful Berlin-iron work down the frame, and those gold for iron rings designs I was not aware of it.
I personally collect gold for iron items, in case you want to part with it some day.
              Thanks for showing.
Request permission to save pictures as a reference on my database.
              Thank you,

WOW!!!! Kay what stunning and unique set, the photos can't do justice to what I am sure is an amazing example of fine quality craftsmanship.

Would love to see some close up microscope shots of the details. The presentation of the set in its frame really brings together the workmanship ,do you know if it is a sample or presentation group?

Shouldn't that be the other way around.... iron for gold? You turned in say your gold ring and got a ring made of iron in return?

thanks boy's fore the nice replies ..

I am glad to see some colleges who know what this is and so appreciate it fore what it is .

here some things I know about it ..

its coming from a Gleiwitzer iron work collector ,,
1935 he dated it ,,don't ask me wy,,, but so far ,,

the set-up of the presentation case and its materials makes me think its correct , maybe even earlier.

its a presentation case fore display purpose , or fore private ( patriotic ) purchase .
                    not sure about that .

the Gleiwitzer iron work firm did not make these to be mixed up wit the real 1813 iron art work,,, so it came,, made from a non magnetic metal .

                    in German called ABGUSS .

these presentations where used earlier on by the Gleiwitzer iron work firm .
in fact they had 2 large displays of the art work of the time in 1890
(representing what was left of the time 1813 .)
one of them is documented ,,as well as the core of the iron cross .
you can find them both on the picture .

as these iron works in Germany had every year several iron works shows they attended to.
I suspect more of these item to be around ,,,
certainly looking at the importance of the Gleiwitzer iron work at 1813.
(and the underestimation of it,,, by the iron crosses collector and book experts .)
I would say there is more to find there .

                        dating it

So far I was stunned by the technique and quality the case was made ..

the inlet is decorated with the same cloth material as was used in the etui's of medals of the time .

astonishing how the cloth was pushed in to the extreme outpointing shapes used on this display .

that is no home made transformation if you ask me..

                        .

                          the backside hold surprised to

one could hang it on the wall ,,or use it like a standing presentation.

but al this was not glued ,,,no,,,, pins where used to hold the support in place .
a small ribbon ( not glued,,, but laid in the case) to make sure the support would not open to far ,,

all this is indicating to me,,,, this was not just presentation case,,,
nor home-made....but period and old .
