      I like it.
I think it was maybe done by the recipient or at least not done
by a jeweler but the style and aging look right.

I find it believable but with any engraved EK, it is a risk.
        Best regards,

I do not buy because of engravings, they are not important. Its a nice ek. Engravings neither subtract from or add to a cross in my opinion.

Very desireable EK w/ a character all of it's own. Good risk

                  I agree.

The engraving IMO is period or early post war in rememberance of these dates. The style of the numerals is an earlier font in use at the turn of the century. The engraving was commercially done by a journyman engraver working under a master engravers tutaledge. The engraving is not the high quality of a master engraver but is acceptable on a workman level. It's known that the differing levels of quality was detrrmined by the depth of the buyers pockets.

I like it. If the price was reasonable it would be a nice addition to any collection IMO.

I can only agree, I don't see any red flags with this engraving.

Re the mark under the pin, maybe look more closely as I think it is probably actually a tiny letter.

                      Hi All,

I don't want to argue, but the only disturbing part of the engraving is the fact that the spacing between the two set of dates differs. As Tony suggest it might be done by the pupil instead of the master, however in my opinion that is an optical defect even a pupil must have released. Maybe it was done on the front line by a trench art artist?

In my opinion the engravings add substantially to the value of an EK1. As proof this KO ek1, which sold for 462 euro, which is 4 times it's standard KO value.

                      Best regards,
                      Michel

I would generally be comfortable with this EK in my collection, with a side of skepticism. These are definitely not without risk but I find this one believable. That said, I feel like I have seen this EK before... perhaps offered on a recent site or auction?

My cross was on a dealers site very recently. To be honest, it was not more expensive than an unengraved example.

I think maker marks add far more value than engraving.

I would have gone for this example without engraving as i think its a very interesting ek.

                          Many thanks,

                          Will
