Bayerischer MVO 4. Klasse mit Schwertern

    Hi all,

I would like to show you my 3 Bayerische Militärverdienstorden 4. Klasse mit Schwertern. This one was given, normally, to Lieutenats.

This one was made by the Gebruder Hemmerle, marked as such (GH) both in the Cross and the Swords. The cross was made in Silver 950 (marked) with center in gold and the swords in silver too (but marked 900).

as far as I know (and I may be wrong), there were in Bavaria 2 more makers, Jacob Leser and Weiss & Co. But something is for sure, each one of them with their own characteristicas, but all of them, beautiful.

If I said anything worng, please do not hesitate to correct me.

    Best Regards

    Very nice cross!
MVK's were also produced by Deschler and Lauer. I'm not sure about them for MVO.

One of the nicest imperial awards in my opinion.

And also to Oberleutnants and Hauptleute. This is why the higher classes, even the 4th class with crown, aren't too common!

Nothing to correct, but just to add: The change from real gold medaillons to gilt ones was with january 1st, 1917. The older ones, like yours, look so much nicer than the 1917/18 types...

Only official makers for WW1 era MVOs were the three mentioned: Hemmerle, Leser and Weiss.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

The next MVO 4. Klasse I want to show you was made by Weiss & Co. A really nice made piece, still (I believe) with the center made in Gold and also, something really easy to identify in this orden from Wiess & Co, the texture of the flames.

The next one to be shown.... Mr. Leser.

            Best regards

Beautiful awards. These and the BZL are my favorite Imperial awards.
