    My first Imperial item

Hi, I'm not sure if I should be posting here or in the paper and documents forum. But I figure it is Imperial... I had been looking at this for a while and finally decided it was worth the 15 Euro. My question is, basically what the heck is this. It seems like a collection of letters from different people at different times all compiled in this one book. Entries are mostly from 1916, but there are a couple from 1915 and 1918. They are not, for the most part, in chronological order. The ring came with it and has "cold-charnier s.1" stamped on the inside. Any ideas what this is? Thanks, Greg

This is the inside of the book showing one of the entries. They all look like this except some are more artistic then others. Clearly all written by different individuals. Greg

Maybe some kind of book of a soldier with entries of his comrades or a guestbook? I canĀ“t read the text so well, maybe a closeup of the page would help.

Welcome in Imperial. A lot of people seem to find some interest in Imperial too lately.

      best,
      Gerd

Hi Gerd, yes I have been more interested in Imperial lately as I have been reading a lot more WWI history. Here is a scan of the entry in the photo, hopefully a little larger then the last one. Thanks for looking. Greg

Greg,It's a patriotical, civilian gift from a young girl to a friend of hers, taking part as well to the religious confirmation (same word in english?).
Not military, but still very nice!

Thanks to all who replied, my wife will really like this item now that I can tell her what it is. She is more in to antiques rather than militaria. Any thoughts on the ring, seems like it would go with this type of item, do you all think it is original? Thanks again, Greg

Looks like a typical patriotic ring of that area, but again, a closeup would tell more.

                best wishes,
                Gerd
