New EK1

This came today.

Unmarked and engraved ironically with today's date.

I believe the catch has been very neatly replaced.

Wow, that's a great piece by Wagner. The catch is repaired but you probably knew that. If you look closely you can see the WS mark near the repair. This would be one of their late early-period pieces (1915ish), as it's made with a leftover 1870 frame and a stamped core.

I'm no engraving expert, but the engraving looks nice to me.

Super information thank you. The repair is extremely well done, that's why it did not put me off. My EK1 quest continues....

The very, very earliest Wagners were unmarked and used cast-iron cores but this same 1870 frame and distinct hinge system. See an example of this below. I think the stamped core was their first innovation, followed very shortly by the WS mark near the catch.

Wagner seems an interesting make that has variations for collectors. Are these extremely early Wagners of rarity or can they be found?
