    EK1 1914 hollow for review

    Hello
what do you think about this cross
42,5mm X 42,5 mm material looks like neusilber or alpacca
    regards Sławek

At a guess I would say either a patriotic or similar pieces, not a match to any EK1 I am familiar with??. One piece stamped construction, where a period EK1 is three piece.
Interested what others think on this one.

    Regards,
    Scott

Maybe a mother/father would wear this to show off thier sons bravery?
Just a guess. Never saw one before.

It looks like a fake from the club.

            You are correct ,but.....
makes me wonder a few things,
cross is very deply stamped ,it not easy to do the two dies for front and backside,
            quality is very good
and finally, I've never seen even a similar
            regards

Maybe it is a sort of cast of the fake?

Very possible, but it is not modern product, I've known him for 30 years

                  Slawek,

The cross is cast and not a struck piece. A careful look on the reverse beading shows casting 'balls' and areas where the beading is soft and in some areas it totally disappears.

At best this cross may have started life as a photo album cover emblem with the pin added at a later time.

I really think this was designed to fool. The obverse seems to look like it has a separate centre, like it is made to look 2 or 3 piece. The detail is too good.

That was my observation too. But the reverse is so obviously wrong that nobody will get fooled with it. Theater/film piece or album decoration seem good explanations.

I still think it is a match of the fake, hence very dubious.
