Private purschase or issue piece?

Should issue pieces be stamped hallow back like the regular Prussian Pilots badge?

Dear Dez,

Stogieman's version is the "massive" version or solid back version. There is also a 2 piece construction version similar to the Prussian Pilot badge (soldered together on the sides). The pictured badges are both wartime versions (and I am sure stogieman will correct me if I am wrong!). The maker is one of the better makers of these badges. Note the cut out slits on the crown of the pilots badge. I have an unmarked massive version in my collection.
