5 place medal bar with hanseatic cross

    Hi gentlemen,

had this in my mail today

5 place medal bar from a Hamburger sergeant with at least 12 years service.
Hanseatic cross is without any enamel damage as bonus.
Ribbons are a bit muddy and the blue ones bleached out by the sun but the bar had a very low price so i don´t mind about that.

More or less the start of my imperial collection as my 57er collection is complete now .... and now i concentrate myself only on imperial pieces, especially medal bars.

    This one is the start

    Thanks for looking and interest

    Very nice.
Will you be focussing on imperial navy bars?

    Regards, Alex

          Many thanks, friends

Alex, i will not only focus on navy bars. Being this one most likely a navy bar was pure luck

All other incoming bars in the future will be appreciated ....... heer or navy ..... i´ll take them all

What i find totally interesting on bars is that you sometimes can read in them. With the help of a member in my german forum there came out:

          - entered service after 1897 ( no centenar medal)
          - still alive in 1934 ( Hindy cross)
          - 12 years service, most likely Vizefeldwebel or similar navy rank
          - most likely a navy man

Much to discover on such a standard bar

I find that really interesting and will try to learn more about "reading" imperial medal bars

A very nice bar you have there! Personally I like the bars in condition just like that - a bit faded and dusted ribbons are perfectly consistent with 80 years age.

                Nice bar Rüdiger.

It'll be good to have you hanging around the Imperial forum for a while.
                Best regards,
