This "Falkenburg & Richter, Coblenz" Machine Gunner Sharpshooters Badge came in the mail today.
I would like to hear Don's opinion on the badge. I've compared it to his two Falkenburg & Richter Coblenz badges shown on the pinned reference thread: "The Machine Gunner Sharpshooters Badge", page #17, post numbers 245, 246, 247, and 248. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=78371&page=17
I've tried to take some good photos of the badge. A few things spook me about it: The raised maker mark on the back does not look as pronounced (crisp raised) as on Don's example, although the quirks with the lettering seem to be the same, i.e.: the shape of the "&", the shape of the "R" letters on "Richter" are dead-on when I look at mine compared to Don's badge. The "R" used on their logo is very distinctive and unique (narrow shaped). The ampersand (&) symbol is distinct as well, and seems to match Don's examples
Could the die have been wearing down a little? Am I worried about nothing?
Some of the details on the front MG are not quite as crisp/pronounced as on Don's badge either.
I do like the mis-matched pins on the back, similar to Don's example.
I look forward to Don's thoughts and anyone else who would like to chime in.
Best Regards,
Alan
