For arguments sake, what are the chances it is new???

The finish is beautiful…just trying to determine when it was manufactured.

Hi Gary, I wouldn't buy it. Does the badge look 95 years old to you?

I agree with sshort. Even if stored carefully you would think there would be some aging to the badge after 95 years.

BUT- we all know the frosty finish EKs/RKs/DKIGs/DKIS from WW2 Ära have, and the silver frosting remains totally awesome and shiny if it's not rubbed/scratched or something similar. If this GWB is one of the later pieces- why couldn't there be a gold finish with the same conservating and resistant to patina ability?

I like it. And I can see no typical repaint mistakes.

Could it be a 30s/40s piece?

I think so. Was the same time when the first frosted deumer eks arrived. There are also frosty silver SWB, so why not a GWB with the same colour appearance and structure

Here is the mintest one that I own. It has darken a bit over time.

Gary, I've bought from that seller before and he does get some good items but he also has some bad as well.

                          Hi Don,

Thanks for posting your comments and badge for comparison.

                          Nice badge!

Thanks Gary. Just trying to help. I do notice now that the sellers photos seem to be over exposed so it may be throwing the finish color off.

The photo is likely not true to the badges actual appearance - I wouldn't necessarily discount it as a fake.
There is some wear if you look closely, mainly on the swords and helmet rim but also on the wreath. It's the reverse that's a little too sparkly, but I've a black on that has 100% finish to the reverse too (but I think that one is chemically blackened).

As far as the frosting, I assume we are talking about rhodium. If so, I've never seen it used on a gold award. I don't think it'd be gold after being frosted...
