    Fake 1914 Ek2s

This ebay auction was brought to my attention.
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/German1914...item2a35dae1a5

I started looking at this guys pictures and I noticed that a lot
of those crosses have the same very skinny "W" core. Plus
all of the frames look to have the same wear and patina.
None have heavy patina and none are polished. However
some of that might be do to camera flash.

    any thoughts?

you got a point there ...
they would be the best fake around ...
fore a good judgement one needs to see them up close

    a horde perhaps ?

Good point, Greg. Week ago I was looking at them too.

Notice how frames donĀ“t fit together.

        I don't like em too...

Frame looks odd and all have the same aging (which could be true if its a horde find).

If you have a new fake, this is the way to market them.. A hoard find; sell one at the time. Replacement ribbons. Good strategy. Also bad photos as no good closeups are made (If real, one cross would be "macroed" IMO )...

        Fishy.

        Best regards,
        Michel

A very well known shyster that burned me some time ago. Some of those do seem to have different crowns which is interesting. Perhaps a couple of originals in the mix to make the rest look better?
