Wound badge silver - good or bad ?

    Hi,
I would very much appreciate your opinion on this silver wound badge. In hand it doesn't feel bad, but there are som characteristics that I don't like about it. It is different from another badge I have, and I am eager to learn what to look for when trying to decide wether it is fake or not. I think the details are very poor - look at the sword grips, the guards and the leaves. Also the "dotting" is "blurry". The rim of the badgde is also "shallower" than on others I have seen (pardon my english, I hope you understand). The badgde itself is also smaller than the other one I got, it is only appr. 42,5 mm high and 38 mm wide, this makes it look a bit more "round" than the other.

If it is good - are there any explanation for these characteristics?

    Any help will be appreciated!
    Have a nice day!

    Hi Alfonsoer,

There appears to be a thick silver paint covering the details. Also there are a lot of different designs/ makers of ww1 wound badges, up to 1945. I wouldn't worry that much. I like it and it looks worn,

    Best regards,
    Michel

        Hi, Don D.

Yes, both the badge and the needle are magnetic (e.g. attracts a magnet). Is this a good or a bad thing?

        Sincerely

Magnetic combined with that silver radiator paint equals wartime issue piece.
