Anyone here able to date this 1870 and oaks miniature from the style of the J. Godet button...?

    Thanks

I can confirm with absolute authority and the utmost of confidence that this item is definitely post-1895 and pre-1918!!!

        Thanks Eric.....that's certainly the 'ballpark'....

A set identical to this is pictured in Bowen, page 106....and I assumed, given the literal translation of 'Royal Court Jewellers' (KGL.Hofjuweliere) that they must have originated shortly after Godets' 1911 'Royal Court Jeweller to Kaiser Wilhelm II' designation.

Maybe someone can put me right on this....and post some more Godet marked buttons..

        ....and thanks Greg....

        Cheers

            Obverse

This is not unusual, in the Tinnie Forum; that is showing the reverse first. There are some interesting maker's marks to be found on the backs of some tinnies.

                    Fantastic Ralph!!...Thanks

So if I am to deduce circa 1918 for my set as well, that puts my 1870 vet at a sprightly '68' years old before he decided it was time to slip on his dinner jacket, complete the effect with his new buttonhole EK and venture out into party town to spend his pension.

I would also deduce from that that he is NOT the original owner of this mini.

Still, it's a very nice piece.

                    Cheers
