    Imperial writing.

As some of you may know, a few of us have gotten together to write "THE" book about WW1 EK award documents.

We are looking for a few good men to join the team.

Using a selection of around 350 variations (covering all sorts of units and fronts) we are trying to come up with a page of text to accompany each document. The texts are not supposed to fit any kind of form, rather, they should provide a bit of background to the illustrated document. In a few cases a biography of the man, in other cases a description of the units part in the battle, with others a description of the battles part in the war, the next lot may include views from the other side (ie. descriptions of the battle from the British/French/American side, letters or descriptions by allied soldiers).

Basically, there will be almost no limit on the subject matter as long as it helps "illustrate" the men and their war, from their side or "the other" side.

It is a large project that will take time and we have a couple of coworkers on board, one who will be looking into doing a few pieces on sectors where the Australians fought, one who is a "Somme man".

The thought cropped up that there may be people here on the forum that would like to see something they wrote in print (fully credited of course).
Before I started with the idea I had lots of little pieces of text floating around my hard drive, written for myself, so the seed of the book idea was to finally do something with those and match them to Award documents.

So, if there is anyone out there who would be interested in putting a pen to paper, please feel free to contact me, I am sure there is a subject that would be of interest.

Examples on the to do list are...

    1) A chapter on the fighting at St Mihiel from beginning to end, handled in whatever form the writer would like to do it.
    2) A chapter about Hill 60
    3) a chapter about German Railways/field railways
    4) a chapter about the effects of the Uboot war on decisions on the western front
    5) a chapter about the evolution of gas war may be interesting
    6) Kemmel
    7) More about the Nivelle offensive
    8) insert your idea here.........

"Chapters" are basically a page of text, if the subject calls for more we can look to see if we have a second award document to balance the Text/Photo ratio.

Anyway, I can be reached at chrisboonzaier@t-online.de and would be happy to give you any extra info on the project.

    All the best
    Thanks for reading
    Chris
