    Opinions please on non-combatant ribbon...

I'm not very optimistic regarding the originality of this ribbon, but I thought I'd ask you all for your opinions anyway. In the past I have read that there were Imperial ribbons which had 'whip-stitched' edges on either one side of the ribbon, or both. Could this be one of these, or do we throw this one in the vertical file?

No problem. It came on a nice 1914 Type A14 EKII I bought off of eBay. It would have been nice to have had an original non-combatant ribbon on it, but...

        Thanks for your opinion, Peter

I have seen worses looking ribbon so you can always use it with the cross for display purposes but imo a original black ribbon will look better on the cross. And after all, if the cross was ever awarded it was at 99,9% a combatant ribbon on it in the first place.

I also felt that way Peter,

These ribbons used to be fairly easy to locate (I'm speaking twenty years ago), but not anymore. I feel pretty lucky having just one good one on an Imperial EK.
I guess the best place to find one would be at the SOS where one could inspect it in hand first before pulling for the wallet.
