    Unmarked EKII with non-combatant ribbon

This unmarked EKII has the same frame as my marked 'LV' EKII.

Does the ribbon look original? It passes the black light test, and it burns clean and fast. It doesn't 'ball-up' like synthetic nylon would. All opinions welcome.

There is no red flag for what I can see but in hand in always better.

Do a thred count like this (threads per 3 cm).

These ribbons often gets alot of opinions so maybe someone thinks differently then me. But here is my opinion:

          Long version:
47 is a good number so from all the tests and from the looks of it I say it is most likely good.
I dont think there is any more that can be said without having it in hand and getting the feel of it.

The only thing that can be said negatively is that it is very white, normaly they are a litte yellowish/brownish but your pics are very bright so the ribbon maybe looks darker in natural light.

Short version: I like it and thinks its good.

You are correct, the photo was taken in harsh white lighting close to the ribbon. It's true color is dull, a very slight yellowish tint to it.

            Thank you for your opinion!

I played with Photoshop Elements 4.0 and adjusted to the best of my ability the true color of the ribbon...

                Peter,

Could you please add to this thread who was eligible to receive this non-combatant EKII? Obviously it was non-combat personnel, but who specifically could be awarded this? What roll/part did they play in the war?

You may wish to have a look at this thread in which some non-combatant EK2 recipients are discussed.

                    That explains it very well.

Thought I'd snap another photo showing the contrast between the ribbon color and a white cotton background....
