So, in 3 short weeks 1914 EKs will become "antiques" being 100 years old. Will this have any impact/effect on prices and values? Looking forward your input and ideas.

From what I've seen, the prices for the average stuff has
already hit it's peak and may be even coming down a bit

However- the more collectable or harder to find items
like certain maker marked crosses or the more unusual
attachment style Ek1s are still bringing a premium.

I don't think there will be a big bump in prices in 3 weeks.

I think that as we approach autumn 2014 there will be renewed interest in Imperial awards, as well as US and UK awards from the period. The TV, bookstores, magazines, internet and newspapers will be flooded with retrospectives, histories, documentaries, articles, etc. I guess with renewed interest will come some price increase. Probably it'll be minimal but noticeable.

I would tend to agree with Greg's and Trevor's assessments. If we're going to see a rise in Imperial EK prices, chance are that it will occur during the coming weeks and/or months. Should prove interesting to observe.

With publicity of the centenary more people will take an interest in the events of 1914-18 and artefacts from that period. However, most of that will be short-lived.

I'd expect to see a small increase in prices of some of the 'gateway' items like EKIIs for a short time, but beyond that I don't think there will be a significant or prolonged shift in pricing. I wouldn't be surprised to see some ridiculous things happen on eBay, but collectors will not be caught up in that and prices in general will stay much as they are today.
