1866 Prussian Loyal Service Medal

I just picked up this 1866-dated Prussian loyal service medal among a lot brought back by a WWII veteran. I have a couple questions:

1) Is this the proper case for this medal?
2) How rare is this medal and what is its current value?

Nice original cross on single bar!

The box is not for this cross, I'd say decades later and not military - maybe for pocket watch.

Value is hard to determine, I'd say some 40-60€ in Europe. Crosses are not rare, but the single spange is harder to find.

Looks like the cross should be on the verticle brass rod not on the pin. When viewed from the obverse side the widest part should be at the bottom of the bar not the top, easy to rectify though

Hi Barry,

I'll echo what's been said. The medal is common but nice and original. It's upside-down on the mount, and the case is not for the medal. I'd say it's value -- considering the mount, which is nice, but without the case, which I think has almost no value -- is about $100.
