This badge just came in. Please give me your opinions, as I am a novice at these:

Take a look at the level of detail in the landscape:

Very convincing and the craftsmanship is great. Look forward to see if one of these has turned up before.

These were intended to be used as watch fobs, right?

A holder of some type, yes. A watch most commonly. But I would think this is somthing only a vet would wear but as jewelry I suppose a tourist could acquire one also.

                Interesting....

Hi Yuri, I have never seen that mark on an Imperial Badge, full, or Prinzen, before. My concern would be that the marks are indistinct as are the details (Everything seems very blurry). Often times you will see these purported to be for wear on a medal bar, but I have never seen a WW1/WW2 era photograph of anyone wearing one in this manner. Manion's sells, (or rather attempts to) sell these on a very routine basis... that in and of itself would be troubling to me. I am sure Prinzen-Grosse badges were made, but every one I have ever seen was made as a pin-back for wear on either the uniform, or civilian tuxedo.

                  I had a converted one!!

                  Hi,
I used to own an identical example in silver which had been converted to pin back for wear as a prinzen award. These date from the 1920s i believe rather than wartime period.
                  Regards

                    Dear Yuri,

I have seen these sold as both watch fobs and as a mini for mounting on a medal bar. I have only seen one mounted on a medal bar. It was hung from a WWI black and white Iron Cross ribbon.

I have not seen/am not familiar with the maker mark on the badge.

Sold in Hamburg does not make this an awarded piece.

                              That's quite correct Brian....

... ALL awarded Imperial Flight Badges were stamped steel/tin and silvered. They were handed out in plain brown paper envelopes similar to a WW2 award packet and they had NO maker marks, titles, etc.

.... ALL Prinzen-Grösse Imperial Flight Badges (and ANY other P-G medal, badge or decoration for that matter) as well as ALL Silver, 2-Part (or 3-Part) Imperial Flight Badges were strictly private-purchase items.
