I certainly am no expert, but if its a copy its a very nice looking one. I'd take it. I know there is a new high end repo on the market that is this pattern of PLM, that is baroque suspension, versus the pie wedge. Is the piece marked for silver content? and if so marked is it actually silver? I would tend to believe pieces marked 938 are more likely pre 1918, than those marked 800. That being said Ken Greenfield of der Rittmeister has a PLM he states is from Ritter von Schleich. I believe its an unmarked piece. Also the U and R are not connecting lots of repos, I've seen, mine included.

For example, this PLM picture is offered on the web site SoldatFHQ. This site sells repros that are clearly labeled as such. This PLM could be the same piece, with a little cleanup work to the feathers in the center. MY guess is the one pictured in your thread is also a repo. JUst my two cents.

          Jack,

That PLM is a very nice repro. I saw one just like it on Ebay about six months ago from a seller in Germany who was being honest (unlike a lot of others) and described it as a repro. He didn't specify an age, but the one he had, like the one you posted, looked brand new. My guess is these are current production, and the quality is pretty impressive, but the eagles don't really look like Wagner pieces. If it is marked "W" that doesn't mean anything. There is a long history of repro PLMs being marked "W" or "JGuS" or "GODET" or "JG" or some other variation that is supposed to imply that they are made by original makers. Unless the charactertics of the piece itself are an exact match for a known and documented original, the marks mean nothing.

If you look closely at the picture in post #2, The center of the cross, where the arms come together. The corners do not line up.( especially the upper right corner )

If I remember right, Brian said that this was sign of a particular repo cross.

I think Brian was referring to the Rothe copies, which all seem to have the center that doesn't line up. But the eagles are much different on the Rothe copies. I have a good photo of a Rothe copy... somewhere. If I can locate it, I'll post it.

You're right, though, the center doesn't exactly line up on this one, either.
