    Pilot Badge.

I have this badge about ten years ago, I found it in Paris. I think that it´s original of the period.

See what others say, but I think it may be a cast copy of a Meybauer badge.

The pin looks okay but the hinge is a bit crude. Also the rear looks rough, with those strange grooves around the top of the crown and the top edge of the wreath.

The colour looks like steel rather than silver, unless it's just the photo.

I'm comparing it to my Meybauer commemorative pilot badge, where the reverse is flawless, plus numerous photos in Rob Pandis's reference.

I think the badge is good. The grooves on the top of reverse are in fact a mis-strike of the rear plate ,possibly when the reverse plate was shear cut out. This is seen reasonably often on Meybauer pieces. I suspect it also has gaps around the joint edges too ,another typical trait of that maker. The hinge looks as if it has been possibly repaired at some stage. Looks like a tombak or nickel example to me. Original IMO.Ferg
