A Gallipoli Star - review please.

It's rough and the rear + pin assembly looks a little strange. Is there a chance? The price may be right- if real, although damaged.

Hi guys,

I bought the item- $89 AUS ($85 US). A good starter piece maybe?
Hopefully I didn't pay too much considering the damage. I tried to cut a better deal but the guy wasn't going to play.

$85.00 US is a very good price for a nice starter piece.

There is a Gallipoli Start for sale in the Imperial e-stand for a bit more coin.... although it is in a much nicer state.

Hi,

I was hoping to be able to recycle the piece with this poor old battered & probably abused Medal bar which had seen better days (I bought from another member here on WAF & past all black light tests). Even the EKII had suffered overtime.
The Gallipoli ribbon did have something pinned to it at one time in the past.

The next period of this medal bars sorry existence shall be spent in pasture. It shall reside amongst my hate belts which have a distinct Gallipoli theme.

The Gallipoli star arrived today, and fit the medal bar like a glove. The pin matched the old holes in the ribbon perfectly. Thanks for all your help.

I've seen both- but I do believe this bar did have this configuration sometime in the past, if only not to lose the Star- I kid you not, the pin matched the holes in the ribbon perfectly. The result was surprising- I didn't expect it to line up as good as it did.

I would not sell this as an original configuration, and we all know that once on the internet a picture lasts for ever. Essentially this is a partially restored version of someones medal bar who chose to keep their medals together. However, someone trumped them and sold their Gallipoli star to maximize profit. Elements of our hobby involve problem solving and detective work- I see this tale, in this particular bar.

Another interesting side note is this: The pin on this Gallipoli star runs vertical and not horizontal. As such, it matches perfectly vertically across. It's kismet.

Per regulations ONLY THE RIBBON should have been worn on a medal bar. This was for sure strange for many soldiers and therefore You can find a combination like the one posted in this thread. "Reductions" were also produced to be worn on the medalbars, I posted one here a few weeks ago.
