WW1 Shoulder boards
I know these are shoulder boards but that is all I know. My guess WW1. And that is about it on these. Were brought back by a Vet after WW2. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you. Jurgen

I believe that the Hessian example could also be that of a Rittmeister of the Garde Dragoner Regiment (1.Großherzogl.Hess.) Nr. 23. Officers of this regiment used this style cypher with the crown attached to the "L". The L.G.R. 115 normally had separate devices for the crown and "L".

The second strap can be one of a couple of units. There was a Pionier Batl. Nr. 20 and a Bavarian infantry regiment Nr. 20. My guess is that it is the later, as this particular type of cord is more typical of the type used on Bavarian private purchase shoulder straps.
