    1870 medal bar for review.

    Hi guys,

looking forward hearing some comments on this medal bar.
At first sight i spot some extra soldering on the ring of the ek2. I think it's a repair. Estimate value?

    Thank you in advance.

I really dont like the ribbons. The ek one is frayed, yet the saxon campaign medal one next to it is perfect. I would that at least some of the ribbons are modern.

Nice one. the ribbon of the l.s. medal is bleached out.

Maybe it's picture and flash only, but some medals are way too shiny for more than a century age - i.e. Prussian KDM and Centenary and Saxon cross. Were these cleaned recently? If yes, could be that done on the bar?

The catch and pin on reverse look too bright for me too. And why some medals have extra stitches around the ear and other don't?

Maybe there are explanations for all these, but from the pictures we have, I don't like the bar as a whole.

Another point. If there is an 1897 centenary medal on the bar, where are the battle bars and jubilee oakleaves? Its true they were private purchase, but even so I highly doubt a proud veteran wouldn't have at least the oakleaves.
