    The End of the "Emden"

This photo was taken by an Australian sailor aboard the HMAS "Sydney" just after SMS "Emden" ran aground and was pounded to pieces on Cocos Island, 9 November 1914. The sailor's grandson sent this to my friend Ted, for whom I post this series of "almost a movie" shots, taken in increasing close up from this photo:

There-- scroll your monitor down from the top and it's almost a "movie," sea-sickness effect thrown in for free!

            Ohoooo,

            the famous "SMS Emden"

Does everybody know, that the crew-members were allowed by Bill the 2nd to put the name "Emden" as additional honorary name?
I think about the prince of Hohenzollern-Emden or a simple Müller-Emden.......
And that the ship "Emden" got the EK and all ships named "Emden" after her too? Even the frigate "Emden" of our Federal Navy wears still the EK!

            Best regards

            Daniel

                    And the Captain:

Fregattenkapitän (Commander) von Müller (later von Müller-Emden), his EK´s seem to be airbrushed in the Photo.
