Can you ID this medal ?

Hi all ,

the big stumbling block with this is that i have packed away my digital camera due to moving house soon

But i will describe it the best i can , SO here goes :

Ribbon : left half red , right half yellow

Medal : at first sight i thought it was the flandern cross , same shape with swords , it is gold and has oakleaves over the top of the cross with 25 on the front of them . on the arms of the cross it has " In , Treue , fest , 1885 , and a lion on the centre .

Any takers !?????

Also it came with what i think is a sweetheart brooch , which is a silver miniature EK with the legend : kreiger-Verein , Gronau i / Westf. , 1873 . On a ribbon of red , black and white .

Krieger Verein means Veterans Association, like VFWs and other things.

I would guess it's a veteran's association medal commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the Franco-Prussian War.

i would say its from the bavarian region - because of the IN TREUE FEST inscription on the front.

Gronau in Westfalen is right on the Dutch border. Of course, it doesn't mean the other one comes from there and that lion does look a little Bavarian.
