    EKII Ribbon Length

    Fellow Members,



    I've carried out a search on the forum but no joy.

    My question is :

    "How long would the original piece of ribbon for a 1914 Iron Cross be"?

      12 inches is what I have seen in issue packets for WW1 and WW2 EK2's.

        I don't think there was any standard length. I have cased examples that vary from 6 to 12 in.

          Right I'm back from work and cor, that was a long day today.

          As I said earlier, I have 2 original full length ribbons and have just noticed that both are different lengths.

          One is 32 cm long and the other is 34 cm long which puts them in the 13 to 14 inch bracket. Maybe it depended on who was cutting them to size.

            I have three EKII's without ribbon and a large piece of ribbon in the mail.

            Now I know what size ribbon to assign to them.
