WW 1 Prussian War Merit Cross MM ?? Help Please

Hello,
While taking some Photos for an online Auction I noticed this Cross has a F on the top both sides near the ring. It is first time I have noticed this on the Medal. I'm guessing it is MM or is it some thing else. Any Help is appreciated and Thank You in advance for your Help.

How was that determined?

Could it be from the small "F" at the top of the cross

Duhh. But how does that F get attributed to a specific maker?
