Just picked-up a titled nobility document in Germany. Includes six pages of parchment with superb calligraphy and folder. Can someone tell me what the approx. value for this set should be? Thank you in advance. Pictures attached.

Wow, that is beautiful artwork I don't know anything about this stuff, but I would guess that the value could perhaps depend on the specific title involved?? (i.e., a "Von Bismark" would probably be worth more than a "Von Nobody"). Either way, it is good looking stuff!

The (rather famous) painter was Fritz von Uhde (1848-1911). His father was president of the Lutheran "Landeskonsistorium" (translates probably as "congregation") in Saxony, and it is HIM who was ennobled in 1883. I don't have his first name at the moment, but it should be his name on the patent!

According to the 1913 Genealogisches Taschenbuch der Briefadeligen Häuser (page 816) it was Gen.Lt. a.D. Paul Uhde who was raised to the nobility on 17 Dec 1902. He had been the commander of Field Artillery Regment 26 (1891-1896), the 4. Field Artillery Brigade (1896-1899) and the 7. Field Artillery Brigade (1899-1900) before he retired as a Gen.Lt.

Why he was ennobled is unclear, though he had spend many years in the Guard Artillery, and perhaps it was there he made the necessary connections!

Ok, so this must be different families or at least different branches of the same family that were both ennobled, but at different times. I - and probably Rick too - had thought that Fritz and Paul were brothers. Should have known better - an artist and a general!
