    here's another one with a Prussian 1861 Coronation Thaler.
    I had always assumed it was a commemorative piece, but couldn't understand the Saxon green on the ribbon.
    Thanks for the information, Karl. It's definitely of interest.
    One quetion, though, is there ant significance to the Thaler?

              @ Tom: The Thalers or crosses attached didn't originally belong on the fobs, must have been later.

              @ Eric: Strange that yours doesn't have the Semester it was presented on it. From the style of the engraving I should say twenties or early thirties (the Nazis had successfully supressed all fraternities by 1937/38 at the latest, most giving up or being forbidden by 1935). Post WW2 ones are for the most part comparatively poorly done, those pre-1914 much more elaborately engraved.
