    Saxony helmet photo? Please help.

Dear forum members! Please help to identify the man in this photo:

What headgear he wears? I found photo of similar headgear with description that this is a Saxony style traditional helmet. Is this correct?

If the service branch, rank and neck order could be identified I will appreciate any information!

    Best regards,
    Alexander

    Alex,

Prussian Generalfeldmarschall Gottlieb Graf v. Haeseler 1836-1919. He is wearing a Tschapka (lancer helmet).

    Regards

Glenn, thanks again! Tchapka appears to be a Russian word - шапка, that means headgear.

      Best regards,
      Alex

Many of the designs of uniforms for the Prussian army were borrowed from the imperial Russian army, going back to the time of Friedrich der Große.
