    25 Oakleaves

    Hello,

I would like to hear your opinions about these oakleaves that had appeared on eBay. Similar to AWS, but not the same. Seller claims it is made from silvered buntmetall.

    Thanks, Miro

    Hi Miro,

I am no expert on the 25 Oakleaves so I won´t comment on these. However I think the ribbon is worked with sandpaper and the splints are still very shining.. conclusion: the ribbon is aged and the 25 is added later. Not a good sign IMO.. But I am very paranoid

    Best regards,
    Michel

You are right, Michel, that ribbon is very strange. I am afraid some insects are living there as well, hehe.

I don´t like the smooth detail of the oaks. If it was worn, there should be some wear also to silver wash... Or?

This is what I am talking about. Wear to the silver wash is clearly visible on Kay´s piece...

I love a nice worn ribbon but that is not natural wear. Looks horrible...

Very similar to the one on the left, but that is AWS, right? AWS jubiläumspangen I saw had device for attaching the oaksto the ribbon ring, not splints.

I think the answer is hidden on the reverse side, behind that caterpillar ribbon.
