Austrian Franz Josef Golden Merit Cross on War ribbon and crossed swords. How does the other side look?? Personally, I love these Austrian Crosses with the rich red enamel. I have two silver and one gold cased but with the crown device.

There is one currently on epay (overpriced, but that is the nature of the beast!)

Nice cross on a nice ribbon too! The full name of this one is:

"Goldenes Verdienstkreuz (ohne Krone) am Bande der Tapferkeitsmedaille mit Schwertern". It's made from gilted bronze.

you could try to look at the suspension ring and look if there is any maker's mark.
