    Question for Tony, Kaiser's Bunker

Hello Tony, To begin with thanks for a great web site, when I want to know the real meaning of the word 'Envy' I go there ! Can you give me a little information please ? Is there any detail difference between a 2nd Garde Dragoon officer's pickel and a General Staff Officer's pickelhaube ? They share common plates, square peaks, colour of fittings etc. - can you help at all, many thanks in anticipation, Newlyn

Where did all the Generals come from??

    Hi Newlyn,
Thanks for the kind remarks. Just to cover both bases, a 1st Garde Dragoon officer's Haube has a plain round gilt spike and gilt chinscales. A General's Haube has a gilt fluted spike and gilt chinscales. I have a theory that the reason there are tons of "general's" helmets out there, is that many started out life as Garde Dragoon Officer helmets and have had a Bayern fluted spike hammered on. A 2nd Garde Dragoon officer's Haube has a plain round silver spike with gilt chinscales. A General a' la suite as well as the Generalstab Haube has a fluted silver spike and silver chinscales. Same theory.......add chinscales. This is just one of the reasons I do not collect anything from the rank of General. You can always drop me a line through my web site.
