Here are two cased examples from my collection. While difficult to see clearly, both attachment rings bear what appears to be the single maker mark/letter "U".
It is my understanding that while numerous variations in award case design exist they are considered to be somewhat hard to find, most crosses not having been awarded in one and therefore privately-purchased.
The case with the fitted lower maroun portion has a narrow receptacle at the top, presumably to accommodate a corresponding ribbon bar.
