Help ID great-grandfather

It think the sword maybe for Ulan. I say that because of the basket hilt.

An Ulan model 89 Degen has a straight blade, the pictured sabre is curved. Also, an Ulan would be wearing an Ulanka. These fellows are wearing a more conventional tunic.
