I'm skeptical of the engraving, but the cross is probably okay.

        Hello Kjell,

I'm not an expert but the engraving doesn't look as tidy as they usually do and there's no dirt in the lettering when comparing with the silver content stamp.

Here's a pic of mine for comparison. The letters are full of grime and patina but as I said, I'm not an expert, it's just something that looks strange to me.

          Engraving

It looks like it might have been done with a machine, rather than hand done. (I don't know if machine engraving was done back then. Maybe somebody can enlighten me?) Also, if it was engraved by a German, don't they spell "Coblenz" like "Koblenz"?
I mean, maybe a non-German engraved it at a later time for some reason, but is that acceptable?

I think Koblenz was Coblenz back then, as Köln was Cöln.

It looks as if it was engraved with a hand held electric engraver like mechanics use to mark their handtools. Regards Chris

                  Really?

Strange...I don't like the engraving ( do with a machine, of course ), but the cross is good.

Yes, this happened in 1923. Cities like Cassel became Kassel.

I have a cross with the same style of engraving. I posted it for review here on the forum, and was informed that the engraving could have been period, because they did in fact have the tools in those days to do this sort of job.

                          I like it!
