eg: name of type of memorial it may be known as
were these done any time after 1920's
and value if possible

Are we talking about something like this?? Generic for anyone to place a photo of their lost loved one in the center. There is one like it in the Ingolstadt Military Museum along with a nice selection of other such memorials for lost loved ones (for display only!). This one made during the war.
