Am I missing something (butschek auctions)

    165 - 190 Euros for a 1914 Ek2?
And then add a 12.5% buyer's premium on top of that.

Am I missing something here? To me it seems just like 3 regular unmarked crosses but in shiny conditions.

Better post pics than links. Not all are registered on butschek

Beside this, on ebay germany there's a seller who has several ek2 online, asking over 1000€ a piece. Sure it's hillarious. 35€ is a totally fair price for an generic ek2 in medium-good condition, would say about 50€ if it's a pretty nice one like mint or a special and rarer maker (like CD/SW/WS/Godet) and say about 60-70€ if it's a mint and/or special maker (like Zimmermann, Casted Godet EK2, very early casted SW or such..)

You are right, here is the pics:

All 3 have the same descrption - Three-part construction. Unmarked. Original attached ring. Original ribbon. A very nice cross!

I bought a very nice Godet cross for 40 euros last year at a big dealer so why would anyone pay prices like this?

The left is the only interesting one (), the Deumer and the lVl are both commonly found around 40-50€ on ebay.. Deumer because these are often minty pieces, lVl because of the maker.. But on top this lVl has been tuned up.. Sadly Butschek didn't even recognize this..

        Not worth the money.

I agree those prices are high.

The cross on the left is the 1914 equivalent of the Straight-9 Schinkel, and I was a bidder on it myself. But I didn't win it -- it went too high for me.

The middle is a total mystery to me -- why so much? I don't know.

The right is interesting -- a neusilber Mayer -- but also went too high in my opinion.

Oh well, I suppose it's good people are willing to pay such high prices for 1914 EK2s.
          Best regards,

All it takes is two people in a bidding war to make an auction go wild.
I was the only bidder on one of his pieces and I am happy with the
ending price and the very fast service.

they are from the 1930's/ 1957 ,,so no prey fore a Imperial collector.

              beside that ,,,
all 3 off them look cleaned and repainted ...in a manner I do not trust .
( and I do not get fooled by any frosting on them )

about the price ,,,(some sort of wheeling/ dealing.)

the whole deal smells dirty .

              from ten miles away

              regards kay

Thanks for the info, I guess I was missing something and 2 of the crosses were indeed worth a little more then the standard EK II. But I think Butschek is very pleased with the 600 euros he got for these 3 crosses.
