An EKI with 3 different metals

    Hello,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o></o>

I might have had this EK on here before but I couldn’t find the thread and I don’t think the question was answered anyway so I’m sticking it on again.
Has anyone seen an EK like this before?
The crown is copper but the core itself is silver in colour and non-magnetic, the frame is obviously plated and the pin is magnetic. Any ideas?
It isn’t marked but does anyone recognise the maker?
    All comments are appreciated.
    Thanks
    <o></o>

I have an '14 EKI that is all magnetic, core , frame and pin. It was first copper plated then silvered and the core finally painted black. It is worn and clearly shows this progression of platings and paint. What is most interesting is that it is also marked 800. My take on it is that it was made either late in the war or during the hard years of the twenties. They were lesser quality crosses meant to decieve the original buyer as to the initial quality. Obviously when new it looked to be a standard EK made of iron and silver but the true quality of this cheapened cross showed thru with age. I have the EKII version by the same maker, same construction.

I also have an another '14 EKII that has a magnetic core and copper plating over the iron before painting. The frame is silver on this though.

      For what it's worth.
