    Three Saxon bars

These are not at all spectacular, but nice nevertheless.

The first bar with Sachsen-Weimar and Reuss ribbons with devices, I assume, was awarded to an NCO from one of the Thuringen regiments. Does anyone agree?

These two bars were acquired separately, but look as though they might have belonged to the same soldier.

Am I correct in assuming that the gold swords device is for an Alberts order cross. If so, which class? Would these have been awarded to a Leutnant or Oberleutnant?

Does the larger bar look legit and is that a Württemberg ribbon in fourth place?

Many thanks in advance for your comments and opinions,

    David

      Hi David,

1st one is really a niiice combo of a Weimar Soldier.
Should be the Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen in Siber mit Schwertern und Reuß Silberne Verdiensmtedaille mit Schwertern.
Really a nice combo of an NCO!

2nd one is a nice Captains trio with the Saxon Albert knight 1st class I assume, because a lt/1st Lt will hardly have a long service award. Anyway I think this bar is made in Weimar time; before 1918 the Albert would take the 1st pos.

3rd one is odd. Albert with golden swords is an officers award; the Württemberg ribbon is the Cross of merit awarded to NCO´s.
I think we have here a technical branch Officer who made the way up over the NCO ranks. Eraned the Württemberg still as NCO and was a kind of techlical Officer in WW1. The blue Prussian long service ribbon can be anything from pre-WW1 to 3rd Reich.

      Best regards

      Daniel

        Hi Daniel,

Many thanks for your comments and the information. Bars are not really what look for, but they are nice when they match documents. I have Militärpässe to recipients of the Sachsen-Weimar and Reuss awards, but none of them have both. I am still looking for groups with documents for these awards, too.

I have a couple of document groups for the Saxon Albert Knight 2nd class, but none for the 1st class (yet). The third bar was a bit of a puzzle for me and I wasn't sure if the combination could be possible at all. Your explanation certainly makes sense, even if it is a bit unusual.

When I get my PC with the scanner working again (or a new one, whichever is sooner), I'll finally show some of the above-mentioned paperwork.

        All the best,

        David

Interesting that the outfitter took the time to match the thread to the colors of the individual ribbons when he stitched up the reverse. All the ones that I have just picked a single color and did the whole thing with it.
