          Kay...

Nice old saber with a clip point blade. It looks to have the earlier Weyersberg solitary king's head trade mark. This mark was used for quite some time befor Weyersberg combined with the Kirschbaum firm to form WKC in the second half of the 1800s.

Unfortunately it is not exactly an 'Imperial' saber. It's older than that as it predates the start of the Imperial era in 1871. Though it may have been used then.

Either way a nice piece ! Thanks for showing it.

          Tony

              thanks fore the nice words

well it wryly feels special ,,,glad I have it .

the right character to please me .

strange how interests can slowly change from crosses to this kind of stuff ..

maybe reading the German 1813 /1870 remembrance books made me do it ..

to sad not many read German ,,but those books wryly read like thrillers ..
and show the ordinary day off soldiers in the field .

a blücher is my next one I hope ....

              regards kay

                Kay,

Edged weapons can be just as addicting as the crosses. Boy do I know. :-)

what surprised me the most is the efficiency in the different design's .

                  one's you hold them
you realise how the technique was meant to use them .

one's you figure that out ,,,battlefield comes strangely close .

closer then a Iron Cross could get you .....

                  regards kay

                    Kay,

I don't remember who said it but there's a quote that goes something like this.......

"History is made at (with?) the point of a sword."

When you have a true war sword instead of just a dress sword in hand you are indeed close to history.

                    All the best,

                    Tony
