EK 2 and Zähringer Löwe bar

The opportunity to photograph this bar presented itself while sorting out some of my items.

Any clues as to the age of the Zähringer Löwe? A comparison of the centre suggests that it is "cheaper" than others seen in other threads.

Hi Eric,


Thanks for the comment. Do you remember when I tried to convice you that "Imperial" was the way to go while we were at Wewelsburg? I had been meaning to do a picture to tempt you to plunge even further into the realm of lesser states and what they have to offer.

Although it has nothing really to do with this thread, except that the bar is shown with some of its brothers, here are some of my other bits and pieces in a rather blurry overview. I also have a few other bars and a lot of single awards, but they will have to wait for another time.

I know this is not the proper thread for this...... but I need some extra 'eyes' to look out for an Imperial Medal for me......

I NEED a Sax-Altenburg Officers long service cross (25 year)...... It is the last item I need to complete a display for Ernst I von Sax-Altenburg.......

Yes, the tower is less delicately painted than most, and the filigree seems a little less detailed. My gues, and just a guess, is that it's late War production. Still a beautiful piece.

Beautiful medal bars David I also collect medal bars. I started with Third Reich, but lately I am leaning more and more towards Imperial. Regards Chris
