    Lübeck Hanseatic Cross

Almost done w/ my Hanseatic collection... Here is a Lübeck I picked up at the SOS. Very neat looking medal IMO...

    Thank you!

    Nice cross and ribbon.
Red feet means war time made if i remember correctly.
And there is something with the flat vs round ribbon rings also but I cant remember what that was... Maybe official vs private purchase?

      Hi Scott,

A very nice example of the Lübeck Hanseatic Cross. Great ribbon too. Of the three Hanseatic Crosses, I believe that this is the scarcest. I have never owned one of these, nor even the Bremen Hanseatic Cross. I've had several examples of the Hamburg Hanseatic Cross on medal bars.

      Best regards,
      Tom

Tom here is what I found out for the amount of awards... The source is wikipedia but does coincide w/ what I have read before..

The Bremen Hanseatic Cross was awarded approximately 20,000 times.
Hanseatic Cross of Hamburg was awarded approximately 50,000 times.
Lübeck was the smallest of the Hanseatic cities, and its Hanseatic Cross was awarded approximately 8-10,000 times.

        Thank you,
        Scott

imo all awarded type hanseatic crosses had the
flat ring. there are period pieces with round rings.

this cross looks very good. the dark red enamel,
red feet, I don't see any problems.

              regards kai
