If it's a BB & Co. example, it's a good chance he was an officer, so he might appear in a rangliste somewhere. Unfortunately, there are no lists of recipients of this award.

My understanding is that these decorations were listed in post-WW1 rank lists, but unfortunately I don't own any in my library. It's something I just never got around to buying.
Maybe someone else in the forum can look him up?
